The marketing possibilities of social media are endless. It is also interesting to consider the way offline and online communications are integrating. Once, it might have been considered that the old way of connecting with customers (offline media) was being replaced by the newer cyberspace communication.
However this week I've heard several stories of businesses making contact with other businesses or customers through cyber connections and building relationships which have resulted in non cyber conversations (!) and business transactions. It seems offline and online - the old and the new - are working very well together in building relationships.
With the huge numbers of people using social media, businesses can't ignore this phenomena in their marketing media mixes. Facebook alone has 100 million users worldwide and is ranked the 4th most trafficked website in the world. And its not just being frequented by the very young. Facebook's fastest growing demographic is the 25-35 year olds.
Social media is a great opportunity for business - particularly in building relationships, and is made even more powerful when combined with the 'old'.
yes well i thought i was the oldest person on facebook for a while but now I know better. Being an old nurse, I thought I was past it. but now I know better!
